Knoxville, TN to Prescott, AZ

Conveniently, Allegiant Air flies non-stop twice a week between Knoxville and Phoenix. With the three-hour time difference, we departed at 2:50 p.m. and arrived at 4:30. Alamo offered us a choice between several SUVs, and we left with a white Ford Bronco with very low mileage. (Insert your own very dated O.J. joke here.)

It's 100 miles from PHX to Prescott, where we were meeting the rest of the gang. John, Kathy, Bill, and Patti arrived yesterday, but since our flight was a little late and Phoenix traffic was atrocious, we let everyone know to eat without us, and we'd get something on the road. Plaza Bonita Mexican Restaurant was our excellent choice, located in far northern Phoenix, just outside of Anthem. Muy bueno!

Prescott is over a mile high, with far different weather than Phoenix. We were dismayed when it started snowing on our drive into town. It was 81 degrees in Tennessee! The snow wouldn't last, but it was far chillier here than we'd hoped.

We met up with the family around 8:30 at Matt's Saloon in downtown Prescott. Matt's offers a line-dancing class on Thursday evenings before the dance floor opens to everyone, and Steve and Marti were learning some new moves. I hadn't had sufficient beer yet to encourage my partication, and I don't think there's enough beer in the world to entice the others.

Later on, we made our way to Steve and Marti's house, where Tom and I would be spending the next four nights. It would be a bit chaotic to have the whole crew in one house, so though the other couples spent last night here, they moved to a VRBO in downtown Prescott in anticipation of our arrival. I'm sure it was nothing personal...
