Rancho Mirage

We had no plans today. That never happens. Yay! After a lazy morning, Joe took us on a golf-cart tour of a multitude of HOAs contiguous to his own (Mira Vista). It's a very pretty day, though cloudy. We went by Mission Hills Country Club, Westin Resorts, and more. The whole ride took close to two hours. There are some beautiful and expensive houses in Ranch Mirage, for sure.

A lot of the streets in Rancho Mirage are named for celebrities who have lived there, like Dinah Shore Drive, Gerald Ford Drive, Frank Sinatra Drive, and Bob Hope Drive. It cracks me up.

After the tour and a sandwich lunch, I drove around the neighborhood in Alice and Joe's little Smart Car just for fun. It's smaller than the golf cart! The sucker turns on a dime.

In the afternoon Tom and I went hiking on some Rancho Mirage city trails, part of the Mirada Trail System. Our map wasn't great, but we hiked portions of the Roadrunner Trail and Chuckwalla Loop, probably about 2 1/2 miles all together, very nice trails starting just behind City Hall.

Alice and Joe fixed beef stroganoff tonight, which I love, and then we watched "The Heat" in their media room (and drank a little tequila). That movie is hilarious (especially with tequila)!
